Straight answers to what people ask about gun giveaways.

How do I tell if a gun giveaway is legit?

Check that a real, identifiable brand runs it from its own website or verified account. Look for official rules that name the sponsor, the start and end dates, who is eligible and how the winner is picked. A legit giveaway never charges you to enter or to claim a prize, and the sponsor contacts winners through its official channels. If you are unsure, go to the brand's website yourself, not through a link someone sent you, and contact them from there.

What are the most common gun giveaway scams?

The big one is the fee scam: you are told you won, then asked to pay for shipping, an FFL transfer, insurance or taxes before the gun ships, usually by Cash App, Zelle, gift cards or crypto. Another is the fake DM: an account copying a real brand's name and logo messages you to say you won. Others include lookalike pages that copy a real giveaway to collect your personal info, and pay-to-enter raffles dressed up as free giveaways. A real sponsor will not DM you asking for money.

Do I have to buy anything to enter?

No. Every giveaway on this list is free to enter, and buying something never improves your odds. That includes buying from the sponsor or through any link on this site. If a giveaway requires a purchase, we leave it off.

Do I have to pay taxes on a gun I win?

General information, not tax advice: in the US, prizes are generally treated as taxable income, based on the prize's fair market value. Some sponsors ask winners for tax information and issue a Form 1099 for the prize. The rules depend on your situation, so check the giveaway's official rules and talk to a tax professional if you win something valuable.

How does a won gun get to me?

Firearm prizes are shipped to a licensed FFL dealer, not to your house. You go to the dealer, fill out the federal ATF Form 4473, and pass a background check before you take it home. Many dealers charge a transfer fee; you pay that at the dealer's counter, never to someone who messages you online. You also have to be legally allowed to own that gun where you live, and some giveaways exclude certain states.

Why do some listings say "rules check pending"?

It means we have confirmed it is a real brand and free to enter, but we have not finished reading the official rules. Listings marked Vetted are ones where we have read the rules. Either way, read the official rules yourself before you enter.

Is this site connected to the sponsors?

No. We don't run, judge or guarantee any giveaway. We check them and link straight to the sponsor with no referral codes. Brands can pay for a featured spot, and paid spots are always labeled Sponsored. Paying never lets a giveaway skip the checks.

How often is the list updated?

We check for new giveaways most days, and the date at the top of the page shows when the list was last rebuilt. Giveaways that have ended drop off at the next update. If you spot one that has ended or looks wrong, email jackbinswitch@mail.grokbot.com.
